“Justice Comes of Age” BiG Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Center Launch Event
In preparation for the rollout of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Thriving Communities grants this year, Blacks in Green (BiG), MWEJN partner and one of the EPA’s Region 5 Technical Assistance Centers, is hosting a free launch event, “Justice Comes of Age,” from Thursday, February 1st to Sunday, February 3rd at the University of Illinois Chicago Dorin Forum in Chicago.
Attendees can learn how grassroots environmental justice organizations in underserved communities throughout the Midwest can access the Thriving Communities funding to build infrastructures for renewable energy, green economies and climate resiliency projects. The Thriving Communities grant was created as part of the Justice40 Initiative in the Inflation Reduction Act. This event will include presentations from the EPA, Department of Energy, and partner organizations, networking and educational opportunities, one-on-one consultation sessions, and will even include a disco dance party.
Attendees can register for this free event here. Registration is required!
WHAT IS A THRIVING COMMUNITIES TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE CENTER?
Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Centers (TCTAC), like Blacks in Green provide training, guidance and capacity-building for grassroots organizations in their EPA region to navigate the application process, build strong proposals, and effectively manage their funding and reporting. These centers were created as a way of removing barriers and increasing access to federal funding for climate resiliency and environmental justice initiatives in underserved communities across the country.
